“Jesus is my personal Lord and Savior.”

No phrase captures better the ethos of modern evangelical Christianity. And while this is absolutely necessary for a Christian to believe and profess, what typically gets lost in much evangelical thinking and acting is Jesus’ church. This book seeks to present to evangelical Christians the basics of ecclesiology, or, the biblical doctrine of the church so that you might participate more fully in the life of the body of Christ.

This week, the Cross Focused Reviewers are participating in a book review blog tour for A Well-Ordered Church by William Boekestein & Daniel R. Hyde. Excerpts and links to the reviews will appear below as they are available:

“As an elder I found this book to be helpful. As Michael Horton writes, all readers may not agree with everything presented in the book. However, where you don’t, you will be challenged from Scripture and historic Reformed Confessions as to why you might disagree.”
Reviewer: Bill Pence

“Toward the end of the book, the call to action as you could say is that we in the 21st century would recapture our love for the body of Christ. Again going back to the point of the book. If you would like to be encouraged to grow in that love for your Church, I would say read this book.”
