God's Great Plan by Melissa CutreraThis week the Cross Focused Reviewers are participating in a book review blog tour for God’s Great Plan by Melissa Cutrera. Excerpts and links to the reviews will appear below as they are available:

“Parents, when reading this book to their child or children, will be providing them the biblical message in easy to understand terminology that holds true to the firm foundation of the gospel message. Children will be able to grasp at this tender age that God is Creator, man rebelled against the Creator impacting our relationship with Him, and that God promised a Redeemer who came, gave His life on our behalf, and who one day will return for His bride.”

“I love the book. This is an excellent tool for sharing the Gospel with your kids, or rather any kids. I absolutely recommend buying this book for your own library, then buying one for each of your nieces, nephews, cousins and grandchildren. It will bless them.”

” Many times it is hard to live out God’s plan in your life because the world is so full of sin. But it is something we must do. The author has done a great job in explaining all that has happened for us to arrive at this point and how trusting His plan is of utmost importance in the midst of it all. The illustrations were done very well and helped to tie everything together so that the message the book contains is received well.”

“When you want to tell the basic simple outline for God’s wonderful plan for man, begin when they are young. Knowing that nothing in life is left up to chance endows our little ones with a sense of purpose and security. Knowing they are loved and cherished not only by their family but also by God and that they play a part in His plan is one of the greatest gifts we can bestow on them. This book communicates the message to our children and grandchildren lovingly and effectively. I know I will enjoy reading this to my grandchildren some day.”

God’s Great Plan by Melissa Cutrera is a beautifully poetic explanation of the Gospel for children with amazing illustrations by Matthew Sample II…This is a wonderful book that my family truly enjoyed. I would recommend it to all families and church libraries. I can think of so many situations in which this book would be very useful – family devotions, homeschooling, children’s church, nursery/preschool class, a gift for neighbors, family and friends who need to know the gospel.”

“My family and I enjoyed this book thoroughly. It is a wonderful tool for evangelization and Sunday school. Although a children’s book, it presents the gospel thoughtfully and thoroughly.”

“The story holds true to Scripture and contains the gospel, which are two things I like to see in a book.  The rhymes are wonderful and I think this would be a great book for toddlers up to about seven years old.  It’s appropriate for boys or girls.  If you’re looking for a gift for a child, be sure to check it out!”

“The combination of illustrations that help the reader ‘feel’ the story and writing that provides an engaging overview of God’s plan from the beginning of time to show His love to mankind makes God’s Great Plan a highly recommended book for young children who love to ask questions.”

“Children’s books are a weakness for me and especially ones that convey biblical truths with a simple and clear message. God’s Great Plan by Melissa Cutrera does both of the above beautifully.”

God’s Great Plan is such a gift to the church, not only to teach very young children but to enlighten the hearts of parents. The theological depth, taught in skillfully simple and memorable rhymes, gives even our toddlers an excellent foundation for understanding the gospel. The illustrations are captivating and relatable (though at times potentially nightmare-inducing) and those who disapprove of visual images of Christ will be pleased to know that all the drawings of Jesus are intentionally indistinct and his face is always obscured. All readers, young and old, are reminded that God made an incredible plan before time began, nothing has interrupted this plan, and He has allowed us to be a part of this plan. I very highly recommend this book.”

“Check this book out, read it to your children, and be amazed at how God’s plan of redemption came to fruition in the person and work of Jesus Christ.  This book will encourage your faith and strengthen your commitment to live for him.”

“This book was short and to the point, which made a lot more sense to me than having a longer story which may not have said so much. To me, the most important part of this book was the illustrations, because they were able to say so much more than the text did. I could really understand the point of the story by looking at the illustrations.”

“I think many will find God’s Great Plan useful for teaching the basics of the Christian faith. The theology is excellent, illustrations decent, and length reasonable. Parents will likely be able to have deeper discussions about foundational truths based on each part of the story.”

“This book would be a great addition to any family or church that is looking for a quality book for kids that contains sound text and wonderful artwork. It points us, both children and adults, to God’s grace. Something that we desperately need to know and be reminded of every day. I can’t wait for my boys to get a little older, because I’m sure that they will be saying, “please read that book again!””

“I was not disappointed at all. The book begins with creation and goes throughout the fall of man, our sin, why God sent Jesus to die on the cross for us, and how we can receive salvation through God. But it is done on a child’s level and in simple rhymes. The pictures done by illustrator Matthew Sample II are amazing as well. I highly recommend this book to anyone with children.”

“I would highly encourage parents & grandparents to consider this book as a resource of learning & truth-telling for their young children. Not only is it wonderfully illustrated and simple, but it does rhyme also. This is almost guarantees that children will learn & understand for memory very easily.”
