The first Christmas that my daughter actually cared about. She was overwhelmed by so many gifts and asked to stop opening them! My wife and I learned a lot about gift giving that year. :)

If you had asked me this 10 or 20 years ago my answer would have been completely different but 20 years ago tomorrow I received a digital alarm clock for Christmas (I was 10 years old). For 20 years that clock has been waking me up literally every morning and I couldn’t imagine life without it. So my trusty alarm clock is my favorite Christmas gift ever.

When I was 12 my dad got ill and had to quit working. We were in a very bad financial condition. My brother and I wanted Bengals helmets but didn’t think we would get them because of the cost. On Christmas day, we were surprised to see that we both got helmets. My mom was so proud of herself, she said got them for cheap. Of course she did, we lived in Cincinnati and the helmets were Cleveland Brown helmets, our bitter enemies. We didn’t tell her.

When I was growing up Santa Claus was just for the younger children and since I was in High School I was not expecting anything for Christmas. However, much to my surprise, I received a beautiful, shaw collared slip-over sweater. It was a complete surprise and even today-over 50 years later-I still marvel at receiving that beautiful sweateron Christmas day.

When I was a little girl there was a mexican barbie that I wanted really bad. We didn’t have a lot of money and my girlfriend had lots of barbies so I was sad. I got that barbie for Christmas and I can still remember that morning although the doll is long since gone.

One of my favorite recent Christmas memories is from last year, when my wife and I announced that we were pregnant (with our third) by wrapping up the ultrasound pictures for my parents to open at dinner on Christmas Eve. As my parents opened them, my sister gave her husband a look of horror — they had planned to surprise everyone by announcing their own pregnancy (their first) in the same way on Christmas Day! We totally stole their thunder. But it’s all good – both moms had safe deliveries, and our expanded families are all celebrating Christmas together this year.

Jesus is the best gift! I love celebrating God’s goodness with my family.
Merry Christmas and happy birthday, Jesus!

Favorite Christmas memory is probably the last Christmas I had with my mom before whe went to be with the Lord. Nothing special stands out just the family being together.

Christmas of 2003. We had just welcomed our first daughter 11 days before Christmas. We’ve had 2 more girls since and 7 Christmases but that one stands out in my mind as a whirlwind of excitement.

My favorite/most memorable Christmas gift has to be a Casio calculator watch I got as a 13 year old boy when my parents came back from work. I couldn’t wait to show it off to my friends at school.

    Shaun & Bob,

This Christmas would have to go down as the one filled with the greatest memories yet. Just 5 days ago, the Lord blessed my wife and me with the birth of our first child, Gresham David Joseph Fiske. It’s been such a blessing to see the joy this child has brought our family and friends. May we all celebrate the greater joy of the birth of our Savior, Jesus, this Christmas season.

    Merry Christmas,

    Kevin

Great stories everyone! Congrats Kevin, on the birth of your son. I was most humored by Greg’s & Gaines’ memories!

    Merry Christmas all!

Thanks so much, Bob! Be sure to keep me posted, as I know you’re expecting the birth of your first boy!

    God bless!

When I was 4 years old I got a nativity set from the mother of my namesake who was my fathers roommate in college. I had seen large one at the church and was suitably impressed by that one, but this was one of my own that I could move around and play with. moving the pieces around. My parents hadn’t given me baby Jesus and when we came home from Christmas eve party that night, he showed up. Christmas morning the three kings showed up but mom had me move them on little paper plates until Epiphany. To this day I love the tradition and have given my daughter a set from the same age.

best memory, when i was a child, and mom and dad and all of us children were still in the same house. we had a roast pig for christmas dinner.

I think if I said Jesus as my favorite Christmas gift, that’d be cheating.

My favorite Christmas gift I received last year. It was a card from my mom that said an elderly Jew was given medicine in my name. At first, I didn’t appreciate it as much. But as I’ve dwelt on it, it’s change my perception on Christmas. It made me realize that I should let the love I’ve received in Jesus change my giving. So this year, instead of buying presents for friends and family on things they probably won’t use, I’ve decided to give the gift of presence and give my money to an organization that helps trafficked women. All because of a little card and a lotta love from Above.

One of my favorite Christmas memories is always going to my grandparents’ house and seeing all my family. More gifts, great food, and times I will always cherish!
